End

Scifi storyboards
Here's what i spent my whole entire spring break doing. This is for the scifi show coming up soon. These will be blown up in the dome for everyone to view, so i'm hyped. It will be played with a story that me and my two teammates decided on. It's simply just a twist on how Adam and Eve came about.

blue skies, sunshine, lets take a walk in the...

What's Good?
For this piece i had to take lyrics from a song and illustrate a piece of the song. I chose a rap song and twisted it in a funny way. I used acrylics to emphasize the focal point and used the crayon to surround in a child like drawing style, the contrast is funny. Poor little bird got stepped on.

Hermes

Hermes
For this project i had to take one of the Greek Gods and illustrate them in a not so obvious form. This was also to be used for a calendar. I chose Hermes who is a messenger, prankster and at times a thief, from what i have researched. I chose to take the negative side of Hermes and use it for my illustration. I used the wings that are on his feet and throw it on the hat as a design instead.

Old Age

Old Age
Here's a piece i did for the 2008 Tata Gala gallery. I've seen plenty of pieces with nice perky breasts, and well, i wanted to do something a little different and more comical.

Landscape

Landscape
Here's what i do to relax and free my mind from any type of school work or stress. Some would think this as extra work aside from homework, to me it's just letting loose, doing what i want and how i want. It's just simply something i do to relax and accidentally learn new things.

Night

Night
For this piece i used some photoshop to do a book cover. I chose the book 'Night', a book based on the holocaust and a holocaust survivor (one of my favorite books). Most of the piece is really just a drawing. I really didn't do too much on photoshop, just some minor changes. I used this piece to better learn the tools on photoshop.

Hands and feet studies

Here are some monochromatic hand and feet studies. I used ultramarine blue and white. This is great practice to get away from the habit of using lines all the time.

Bob Hoskins caricature

Bob Hoskins (digital)
I was only going to do this piece traditionally, but i decided to try it on the computer. I used adobe illustrator for this. I'm not satisfied with the way it came out and probably never will be. I am not a fan of digital work but i do want to learn an effective way to use it, so i'm not going to knock it quite yet.

Bob Hoskins
This is the second caricature piece i've done. I chose Bob Hoskins because he has some facial features that seem easy to exaggerate. I incorporated the movie i last saw him in, 'Unleashed' (Danny the Dog). Again, done in acrylics, i learned some new things from this piece, it's all a matter of experimentation.

Helena Bonham Carter caricature

Helena Bonham Carter
This piece was pretty fun to do. I haven't done too many caricatures before this so it was good learning experience. I chose Helena Bonham Carter and incorporated the last movie i saw her in, 'Fight Club'. This is one of the first illustrations where i used acrylics, since the Hawk piece, so i also learned a lot about the medium and different ways to utilize it.

Hillary vs. Obama

Hillary vs. Obama
Here's a political piece, back when Hillary and Obama were going head to head. This was a pretty cool piece to do. I chose masks to represent their personalities, i also had to choose two American animals. For Hillary i chose the great American bear to represent her aggressive personality. For Obama i chose the American eagle to represent his stern and patient personality. This was a fun project.

Olive Oil

Olive Oil (detail)
Here's the detail.

Olive Oil
For this project i had to make an image for a label. I was assigned olive oil. It was more complicated than i thought. Olive oil being so..bland and boring, i couldn't think of any ideas at first but i finally pulled some ideas together. Right after i got done with the I am Legend piece, i decided to do my next piece in oils too. It came out exactly how i wanted it too, so i'm glad about that.

I am Legend!

I am Legend
This was for an illustration project. I had to illustrate a book cover, so i chose I am Legend as my book of choice. The book was awesome and gave me plenty of mental images i could work from. This was officially my very first illustration piece done in oils, through this i learned a lot.

Hawk acrylic practice

Hawk (uncropped)
Here's the original version of the hawk. The technique is pretty easy, all you have to do is learn how to take the under painting and use it throughout the piece. In this case i used the under painting for the shadows.

Hawk (cropped)
Here's the cropped version. Honest to say, i prefer the uncropped version over this one, just because it looks more loose and painterly, but that's just my taste.
